This new red-class Benchmade is an evolution from the versatile Rescue Hooks (mod. 5 & longer-handle 6).
But a radical evolution, since we got now a safer folding hook, loaded with features. The yellow molded thermoplastic handle houses the lockback folding blade (9Cr13CoMoV stainless steel), a submersible 5 mm LED to illuminate the working area, and a spring-loaded glass-breaker.
The hook is of course one hand openable, and a non reversible tip-down clip is an alternative to the nylon pouch for carrying.
It lacks maybe a serrated area on the blade, for better cutting through synthetic fabric and a tool, maybe a flat screwdriver which could be used as a prying tool.
The price is very soft, since the new ERT-1 retails $ 40 - an interresting competition for the Chad Los Banos designed Böker Rescom - a more versatile blade but a shorter handle.
