Böker SubCom

Chad Los Banos was recently propulsed in front of the scene of knife designer with its marvelous collaboration with Böker, the SubCom. He’s the third hawaiian knife designer that I know, after Ken Onion and Steven Seagall.
The SubCom F is a very short knife and light (about 2.5 Oz.), with a stubby (1 7/8″ lenght) blade, so being a real useable tool. It comes with a strong framelock, an one-handed opening ambidextrial button, a clip, and the right side of the handle is covered with a FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) panel. The handle is comfortable enough to be strongly graped even by a large hand.
With a correct retail price (about $ 40) it’s a very user-friendly knife. Some variations are coming (apart from several different coloured panel and a fixed-blade version, the Subcom FB) : a very interesting Wharncliff blade version - the Wharcom - and a surprising first-response unit version, with a cutting hook taking place of the more traditional blade, the Rescom (see pictures after the jump).
